QUEZON CITY, Philippines — The Catholic Educational Association of the Philippines (CEAP) continues to make steady progress in developing its Enhanced Araling Panlipunan (AP) Curriculum, as members of the Technical Working Group (TWG) gathered for an online huddle to review milestones, address challenges, and align next steps last July 15, 2026 via Zoom.
Opening the discussion, CEAP Executive Director, Mr. Narcy F. Ador Dionisio, reaffirmed the shared commitment to developing a values-driven AP curriculum that respond to contemporary social issues, while remaining grounded in the mission of Catholic education of forming student- advocates.
A significant development shared during the meeting was the commitment of REX Education to support the initiative through the printing of curriculum materials and the funding of the curriculum validation process. The group also discussed preparations for the upcoming Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signing with the University of Santo Tomas (UST), which is expected to strengthen partnerships in bringing the vision of the Enhanced AP Curriculum to life.
Working groups also reported encouraging progress. Group 1, which focuses on Key Stages 1 to 3, have begun reviewing and unpacking the Department of Education’s AP curriculum, while recognizing the challenge of meaningfully integrating Catholic Social Teachings into the learning competencies. In response, Mr. Ador Dionisio encouraged the writers to focus on making Catholic values tangible through everyday themes such as self-awareness, family life, honesty, leadership, and care for creation.
Meanwhile, Group 4 (Grades 9 – 10) shared that it has completed its curriculum mapping and developed sample learning activities, while Group 5 (SHS) is drafting the curriculum framework, competencies, and scaffolded performance tasks that intentionally integrate Catholic Social Teachings. The Group 3 (Grade 7-8) reported that topic reviews are underway, with competency development targeted for August.
Looking ahead, the Technical Working Group reaffirmed its goal of completing the Enhanced AP Curriculum by December. A curriculum workshop and validation activity is tentatively scheduled on October 27–29, with CEAP set to coordinate invitations and participation among member schools.
As the development process continues, CEAP remains committed to working collaboratively with its partners and educators in shaping an AP curriculum that forms learners who are historically informed, socially responsible, and deeply rooted in the Gospel values.
