The Catholic Educational Association of the Philippines (CEAP) and BUILD Pilipinas are exploring a partnership to develop youth training programs that will strengthen media education among students in Catholic schools, equipping them to navigate the digital landscape with discernment, responsibility, and integrity.
During a meeting on July 20, CEAP Executive Director Mr. Narcy F. Ador Dionisio, together with the Advocacy and Public Engagement Unit Secretariat, met with BUILD Pilipinas Executive Director Ms. Rizza Odra and Mr. PJ Hernandez, Head of the Creatives Team, to discuss collaborative initiatives that will advance media education and digital citizenship among the youth.
The proposed partnership will focus on delivering practical training programs on fact-checking, responsible social media engagement, critical thinking, digital citizenship, and ethical content creation. These initiatives aim to equip students with the skills to verify information, recognize misinformation and disinformation, engage responsibly in digital spaces, and become advocates of truth and responsible online participation.
As misinformation and disinformation continue to challenge communities and institutions, the collaboration highlights the critical role of media education in forming young people who can think critically, make informed decisions, and use digital platforms ethically. Through these programs, students will develop not only technical competencies but also the values necessary to become responsible digital citizens and active contributors to the common good.
The initiative supports Media Education, one of the seven pillar programs of CEAP JEEPGY (Justice and Peace, Engaged Citizenship, Ecological Integrity, Poverty Alleviation, Gender Equality, Youth Empowerment, and Media Education). By expanding opportunities for youth formation in media education, CEAP continues to strengthen its mission of preparing learners to engage with today’s information environment responsibly while upholding truth, accountability, and the values of Catholic education.
