Quezon City, Philippines — November 18, 2025. In a continuing effort to strengthen the teaching of Christian Living Education (CLE) in Catholic schools, the Catholic Educational Association of the Philippines–National Christian Formation Commission (CEAP–NCFC) is partnering with St. Paul University Philippines (SPUP)–Tuguegarao to launch the Certificate in Religious Education (CRE) program.
The initiative was discussed in a coordination meeting attended by Sr. Merceditas O. Ang, SPC, President of SPUP, and CEAP Trustee-at-Large; Ms. Agripina Maribay, Vice President for Academics; Sr. Genevieve Rose Cenit, SPC, Director for Christian Formation; Sr. Luzviminda G. Mojica, FdCC, Region IV Trustee and NCFC Chairperson; and Mr. Narcy F. Ador Dionisio, CEAP Executive Director.
During the meeting, Sr. Ang emphasized that Religious Education is a core advocacy of SPUP, while Mr. Ador Dionisio affirmed that CEAP shares the same mission in supporting Catholic school teachers across the country.
The CRE program is designed specifically for teachers of Christian Living Education and Religious Education who did not major in Religious Education. It aims to empower them by strengthening their knowledge, competence, and confidence in teaching faith-based subjects.
Program discussions highlighted a flexible class structure, affordable fees with special support for small schools, and clear pathways to graduate studies, including a bridge program for non-RelEd majors. The program will also welcome religious sisters, priests, and lay ministers seeking deeper formation in doctrine, morals, and worship, consistent with SPUP’s strong commitment to theological education.
CEAP and SPUP will release detailed information on registration and enrollment in the coming days. Through this program, CEAP reaffirms its commitment to uplifting Religious Education in Catholic schools and strengthening the mission of forming educators who can faithfully transmit the teachings and values of the Church.
