The Catholic Educational Association of the Philippines (CEAP), through the Philippine Catholic Schools Standards for Higher Education (PCSS-HE), convened the PCSS-HE Mentors’ Orientation on May 18, 2026, from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM at the Phoenix Publishing House Building in Quezon City.
The whole-day orientation aimed to prepare the PCSS-HE mentors for the rollout of the PCSS-HE training program in Catholic higher education institutions nationwide. The activity also served as a venue for planning and reviewing the key processes and materials needed for the implementation of the PCSS-HE framework in schools.
The orientation was facilitated by Dr. Miguel Rapatan, Chairperson of the PCSS for Higher Education Technical Consultants (TC), together with fellow TCs Fr. Elmer Dizon and Fr. Thaddeu Enrique Balongag, in coordination with the CEAP Membership Services and Communications Unit members.
Participating in the orientation were the appointed PCSS-HE mentors from various Catholic higher education institutions, namely: Dr. Fides Del Castillo of the Department of Theology and Religious Education of De La Salle University; Dr. Joselito C. Gutierrez, Executive Assistant to the President of Saint Louis University; Dr. Monina M. Manalang of Holy Angel University; Dr. Cheryl Peralta, Vice Rector for Academic Affairs of University of Santo Tomas; and Ms. Lorna S. Tyson, Theology Professor of Holy Angel University.
Among the major topics discussed during the orientation were the planning for the PCSS-HE Orientation Program and the organization of School Teams or Guiding Coalitions that will lead the schools’ reflective self-assessment process.
The technical consultants also reviewed the core PCSS-HE materials, implementation processes, and important considerations for the schools’ reflective self-assessment. Discussions included the PCSS-HE framework, standards, benchmarks, rubrics, self-assessment processes, and the organization of school teams that will support the implementation of the PCSS-HE in Catholic higher education institutions.
The orientation concluded with the presentation of the upcoming CEAP schedules for the PCSS-HE training rollout and collaborative planning among the mentors and technical consultants in preparation for its implementation in Catholic higher education institutions nationwide.
