The Philippine Catholic Schools Standards for Higher Education (PCSS–HE) continues to advance its implementation in Catholic higher education institutions as its Technical Consultants (TCs) recently convened to discuss plans for the re-orientation of trainers who completed their training in December 2023.
The meeting focused on preparations for the upcoming activity aimed at strengthening the capacity of trainers who will support the promotion and implementation of the PCSS in Catholic higher education institutions.
Present during the meeting were Dr. Miguel Q. Rapatan, Chairperson of the PCSS–HE; Fr. Thadeu Enrique N. Balongag; Fr. Elmer G. Dizon; Dr. Pilar I. Romero; Mr. Narcy F. Ador Dionisio, CEAP Executive Director; and representatives from the Membership Services and Communications Unit.
During the meeting, the group outlined the proposed structure of the activity, which will include a one-day orientation followed by a two-day training session. The activity is expected to bring together trainers and mentors from the higher education sector who will help guide the implementation of the PCSS in their respective institutions.
Key areas of discussion included the development of the program design, the refinement of strand guidelines, and updates to the self-assessment process. The consultants also emphasized the need to further develop strands and rubrics specifically suited to the context of higher education.
The meeting also highlighted opportunities to strengthen the visibility and integration of the PCSS in future programs and initiatives of the Catholic Educational Association of the Philippines (CEAP).
