In a landmark development for Catholic education in the region, the Catholic Educational Association of the Philippines (CEAP) is proud to announce that the Philippines has been chosen to serve as the President of the International Office on Catholic Education (OIEC) Asia-Oceania for the 2026–2029 term.
The Philippines is officially represented by Fr. Alain P. Manalo, who currently serves as the Philippine Catholic Schools Standards (PCSS) Commission Chairperson and the Vice President for Asia and Oceania Region.
This significant appointment follows the unanimous approval of the new Statutes of the OIEC Asia-Oceania Region, marking a historic step toward strengthening the governance, organizational structure, and collaboration among Catholic educational institutions across Asia and Oceania.
New Regional Structure and Leadership
Under the newly approved regional structure, leadership roles are distributed among several key member nations. The Philippines, represented by CEAP through Fr. Manalo, will assume the presidency, while Pakistan will serve as Secretary and Bangladesh will act as Treasurer. To complete the regional leadership team, Malaysia, Australia, and India have been appointed as Council Members.
With the implementation of the new Statutes, the President (represented by CEAP/Philippines) will concurrently serve as the Vice-President for Asia-Oceania on the OIEC International Council.
Meanwhile, the Secretary (Pakistan) will serve as the Regional Secretary for Asia-Oceania, working in close coordination with the three Council Members from Malaysia, Australia, and India.

The adoption of the Regional Statutes marks an important step in strengthening collaboration among Catholic educational institutions across Asia and Oceania.
CEAP congratulates the new officers and Council Members and looks forward to working with regional partners in advancing the mission of Catholic education throughout the 2026–2029 term.
