Recognizing Faith in Action: CEAP receives the Makialam Award at SLB’s 40th Anniversary

The Catholic Educational Association of the Philippines (CEAP) was recognized as a recipient of the Makialam Award during the 40th Anniversary Commemoration of Simba-Lingkod ng Bayan (SLB) titled “SLB Ako: 40 Years of Unwavering Hope, Sumasaiyo mula 1986.” The event was held on February 21, 2026, at the Cardinal Sin Center, Loyola House of Studies, Ateneo de Manila University.

The Makialam Award recognizes individuals and organizations that actively engage in the struggles and hopes of the people, fostering participation, dialogue, and solidarity that lead to genuine social transformation.

In its acceptance, CEAP highlighted: “The Makialam Award calls us not simply to be present, but to be involved, to enter into dialogue, to foster participation, and to stand in solidarity with communities whose voices must be heard. If our institution has contributed in any measure to genuine social transformation, it is because we have learned from partners like SLB that faith demands engagement.”

CEAP also reaffirmed its commitment to social change: “As we celebrate this milestone, we recommit ourselves to the long and often difficult work of social change. May we continue to build bridges where there are divisions, nurture courage where there is fear, and sustain hope where it is most fragile.”

The award highlights CEAP’s role in promoting civic engagement and social responsibility through Catholic education and community initiatives.
